About Us

As the Director at the Belmont County Department of Job and Family Services (BCDJFS), I thank you for visiting our website.  Our agency, with a staff of nearly 100, operates as a quadruple combined agency in Belmont County, Ohio, consisting of Public Assistance, Children Services, Child Support, and Workforce Development.

We exist to serve the people of our fine county, and are funded at the Federal, State, and County levels of government.  We operate on two fiscal years.  The State Fiscal Year (SFY) is July to June.  The Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) is October to September.

Our major programs include Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), Child Care, Fraud Benefit Recovery, Child Support, Children Services, Foster Care, Adult Protective Services (APS), Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), and Comprehensive Case Management and Employment Program (CCMEP).

Our mission is to provide the community with the necessary resources to support and encourage individuals and families in achieving their goals for self-sufficiency; to protect children from child abuse and neglect; to assist single parents with obtaining the financial resources necessary for raising their children; to protect adults from elder abuse and neglect; and to assist the public in obtaining their first, new, or better job.

It is our pleasure to serve the public.  As Director, I have often said to staff that we are the safety net for those residents needing our services.  I am proud of our workers and the work they do helping others.  They are compassionate and caring, kind souls, and our customers are pleased knowing they are being served by such a knowledgeable and experienced team of workers.

Here at BCDJFS, we are committed to promoting the dignity and self-worth of those in need.  Given the choice, we know our customers prefer self-sufficiency.  We are here to help them achieve their goal, and assist individuals, families, children, and the elderly reach a better place in life.  This is all done with a workforce that treats our customers with the respect they deserve in the hopes of them having a better and brighter future.  Our jobs are important, and nothing is more gratifying than assisting those in need.
