Child & Adult Protective Services
Our agency is committed to protecting children, adults and strengthening families. The Children Services Division serves the county’s children at risk of abuse or neglect and their families. We also recruit and train foster and adoptive families and prepare children for adoption. Whether you are seeking information on child abuse and neglect, foster and adoptive parenting, or upcoming agency events, we hope you will find the information you need here.
Belmont County Job and Family Services investigates alleged abuse and/or neglect toward adults aged 60 and older.
Elder abuse comes in many forms. Typically, elder abuse refers to the intentional abuse, neglect or exploitation of a vulnerable adult. It can be inflicted by a caretaker or any person in the adult’s life.
Elderly adults have the right to make decisions that do not conform to social norms, as long as those decisions do not harm others.
